How to adopt a dog from a shelter.

Comments:

Congrats!

Enjoy your lovely new family member! What’s her name? And how old is she? Do you know much about her history?
I’ve got two dogs and can’t image our home without them now. I have a real respect for people who rescue. (This was my first port of call, but rescues seemed to have a blanket rule against people that work full-time, despite us walking them 2/day + a dog walker while we’re at work).
If you don’t mind me asking, what issues does your girl have? My fiance is a deft hand at training and I’d be happy to pass on any advice if it would help.

Emma just like the roads I am under the most construction in the summer

Her name is Nixie. She is now a little over 1yr. I got here at about 10 mos.

I don’t really know about her history. All I’ve been able to puzzle out is that some man in her past was very mean to her. She has a few scars about her head and gets very upset when guys move too fast around her.

Her problems right now aren’t too bad. She had some serious separation anxiety, but we worked through that. Now we are working on keeping her from jumping up on people all the time, especially my fiance’s son!

Emma has gotten 12 cheers on this entry.
