How I did it: I took a class in college. Starting out is tough, and I still have a long way to go, but I think I will continue.

Be prepared to buy a gi (uniform). Aikido is a commonly practiced martial art from Japan, and there are numerous dojo, and experienced teachers in the US. Belts are not the same, so be sure to purchase a uniform with advice from your teacher.
