Lovely
What a lovely post—I am trying to cut down on trivial spending, it’s a great encouragement, thanks!
How I did it: instead of going out and shopping when i feel anxious or sad, i went back to writing in journals. it vents some of my thoughts, gets some things of my chest, and i don't even leave the house non the less go spend money on things i don't need! Not to say I haven't been shopping. but i buy more wisely, with friends, and thank you christmas, with gift cards!!
It's also helped being more open with people close to me about the things I have on my mind. sometimes i think i sound crazy, but they are understanding and responsive. they don't judge me like i guess i used to expect them too. plus sometimes i get much needed warnings and advice! something all those hats, scarfs, and clothing i never wear could never give me.
Lessons & tips: maybe shopping was a control thing for me. I saw what i wanted and i knew i could have it, rather then all the things i was sad about not being able to have. talking and writing out the thoughts and anxiousness gets a lot off the mind. once you are done shopping, the thoughts will still be there.
Resources: freinds, journals, and self control!
