"You will do this the moment you realize you are too blessed to not give to someone in need."
How I did it: The idea came to me yesterday when I gave about $4 to a homeless man on the side of the road. I wanted to buy a homeless person a hotel room for the night. It wasn't much, but I felt I had to do it.
The next day, I got off the interstate and there was a man begging for money on the off-ramp. I met with him and his friends a few minutes later and promised them a hotel room. I wouldn't let them in my car but told them to meet me there in 2 hours. I went home, cooked them a nice hot dinner and paid $40 for the hotel room.
The men were so grateful for just a small act of kindness. I did this so easily and without much thought because I knew that $40 would be spent on things I wanted rather than needed. Not these men. They needed it.
It might not have a lasting impact on them, but it will on me. They were war vets, not drug addicts. Worth it.
Lessons & tips: I brought my pepper spray with me the entire time. You never know. These people were nice, but don't let your guard down.
