How to compile my grad school application portfolio
How I did it: First, I picked a bunch of pieces of art I liked and flagged them into an album. Then I went through those and narrowed it down to 20 pieces. Sent those off to get printed and the drug store messed some up so that lessened my total. Bought a portfolio folder thing from the drug store and some transparent paper sleeves. Bought some nice black cardstock. Taped the pics where I wanted them. Used regular labels and printed the info I wanted on them, stuck those by the pictures. Picked some poems I'd written that I like best, cut them out and put them where they belonged! Voila.
Actually, it took a lot of positioning and repositioning to find the order and the places for each piece of art. After it's all said and done I turned it in and looked at the photos I took of the portfolio and I put two pieces upside down (embarassing... but they're kind of ambiguous pieces...they look almost right either way).
I spent a LOT of time looking back at work after sleeping on it for a night. Slow process but it looks nice.
Lessons & tips: Be patient. Sleep on it ONE EXTRA NIGHT (so that nothing is upside down). Have people give you feedback (if you trust them to).
