P. S. Most of the time I was doing this,
I was singing the song “Magic Penny” out loud and/or in my head.
How I did it: I dumped out my magic piggy bank. Exactly 43 pennies came out, so I knew I was on the right track. I put them in a special compartment in my wallet and left work. I work around a lot of homeless people, so I made sure to scatter several in the parking lot. Then I went to my favorite store, where lots of homeless people also hang out (in the parking lot, not in the overpriced store). Again, I scattered several coins in the parking lot. Then I placed several in secret locations inside the store, all with a big silly grin on my face because I knew I was on a secret mission. I debated a lot with myself over whether to follow the spirit or the letter of this goal: Do the coins have to be dropped, or is it okay to place or fling? Do the locations have to be randomized statistically, or is "here and there" good enough? Could I drop them anywhere, or only in places I thought people would definitely find them? Or only where people would definitely appreciate them and feel lucky? I went for the spirit of the goal, because it seemed much more fun. So I did some dropping and some placing. I ended with driving through a suburban neighborhood and a park area, flinging pennies out my window at intervals.
