Huge Respect!
I did almost exactly the same 2 years ago, and I’m still working on minimizing, so i know how hard it is. Congratulations on being able to do it!
How I did it: I started out by decluttering for fifteen minutes a day until I had made a significant dent. I would go back over the same boxes and rooms several times and find that I was becoming less attached to my clutter every time I did it. After awhile I had cut down to things that I was very emotionally attached to or had a real use for. Then we moved from our large two bedroom apartment to a 350sqf studio apartment. As we were moving I went back over everything and let anything go that wouldn't benefit our lives. I still have DVD's that I probably wont watch often and videogames that I won't replay any time soon, but I only kept the ones that I REALLY love. I finally let go of my collection of retro videogame systems and games and only kept games for my current systems (PS3, 360, Wii, DS, and PSP) and games from older systems that work in those. I did the same with my beloved books and only kept ones that I love and will read again. I went from having three LARGE bookshelves and several boxes to having two medium sized bookshelves. I gave away a truck load of clothes and only kept what fit in two dresser drawers and a small shared closet.
The worst part was crafting supplies, but I managed to let go of a lot and am satisfied that it all fits in the bottom of my china cabinet and one tote.
Phew. It has been hard to go from a VERY cluttered 1,000sqf space to a very minimal 350sqf space for two adults, two babies, and three cats. Huge stress remover though.

SimplicityInTheLBC illegitimi non carborundum! (Don't let the bastards grind you down.)
The best part is that it gets easier every time you make another go-round. The toughest bit is taking that first step.
MaggieOnWheels is looking forward to a fantastic 2012
I’m going through the same process right now (not moving, but Hubby moved in with his stuff) and it feels so liberating but also emotionel. I have a hard time sorting through my craft materials as well – reading your post make me believe, that I can do it too. Thx.
