How to create my own website
How I did it:
Lessons & tips: Okay, here I am going to write how you can do it rather than some lessons and tips. One of my goal is to write a book and the community here has helped me a lot in getting started. So, I think I can payback with this :)
1. You don't need any programming experience to create a website of your own. How to use a computer is more than enough.
2. As I mentioned above there is no need to invest anything. You can start with a free host and free domains. You are not going to get millions of hits on a personal website very second that these free host will not be able to handle. In case if your website grow large then it is very easy to migrate these CMS to new servers if you choose to go for paid server later for better performance.
Now getting started:
1. You need to decide which CMS you are going to use. I prefer Drupal personally because it is very search engine friendly and semantic. Joomla is a good option if you want to play with lot of zhing-zhang themes. Wordpress is good if you want to maintain a blog basically and they have a huge themes and modules libraries. Drupal and Joomla both are same in this case more or less. Drupal lack in themes a little bit.
You can visit their website and grab them. All of them are free and open source.
If we arrange these CMS on the level of difficulty to work with:
Wordpress (Easiest)
Joomla
Drupal (A little complex)
2. Host and domain name : x10hosting.com provide free cpanel hosting and you can get co.cc domain for free
3. How to do it ?
You can contact me for detailed description or use google. There are thousand of articles on how to install and run these CMS.
4. I will suggest you to go through these video tutorials if you are struck :
