How to try being a vegan
"I feel great!!!"
How I did it: First I read the book "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer, and this made me want to stop eating meat on December 19, 2011.
Then I ordered the dvd "Forks Over Knives" and watched it on New Years Day. The excellent information in this documentary made me stop eating/drinking dairy and eggs as well.
I didn't do anything drastic like throwing out all of this food. Instead I finished eating what was in my cupboards and refrigerator in smaller and smaller amounts until it was all gone.
I now eat lots of fruits, vegetables, quinoa (pronounced keen-wa), different types of rices, whole grain and rice pastas, beans, peas and lentils, and whole grain breads.
I have never felt better in my entire life!!! I have more energy than I did when I was in my teens, my head is clear, my skin and hair are in great shape and I am losing weight without even trying. I sleep better too.
If you are thinking of trying veganism I would recommend the following....
Books: "Eating Animals"; "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition" (Julieanne Hever); "The Thrive Diet" (Bendan Brazier); "The Kind Diet" (Alicia Silverstone)
Magazines: VegNews
DVDS: "Forks Over Knives"; "Vegucated" (available on iTunes);
Websites: Forks Over Knives.com; Thrivein30.com; BrendanBrazier.com; myvega.com
You may feel like crap the first week or so depending on how bad you ate before but trust me it's worth it!
Hope this helps
