How I did it: Breathing exercises are a gem. After I learn to breathe deeply as a way of calming down I also harnessed this incredible power to put oneself in a state of exceptional focus. Also, pushing unwanted thoughts out of my head and being intolerant of them built up a mental discipline that helped me keep my concentration in other arenas of life (simple as they may be) like cooking, working out, even playing computer games (ha! that table tennis return challenge in wii is a good test of focus!).
Lessons & tips: Know that you are in FULL control of what goes on in your headspace. If you are getting distracted, immediately pull yourself away from where you know you should not be and centre your thoughts where they should be. Discipline.
