Way to go!
How to get a graduate degree
"um, still doing it - just had an exam last night, and finished 2 semesters!! 1.5 yrs to go!
update: THIS IS MY FINAL SEMESTER! after a total of 4 semesters :)
after which I need to start writing my thesis, and then I'll be finally done! :)"
How I did it: - still doing it, while working full-time *stress*
- find helpful people who can motivate you, cheer you on, or just be crazy and silly with you
- LOADS of hard work and determination and discipline... sometimes I have none of them!!
Lessons & tips: - take calculated risks. for me, i have poor time management skills, usually i pack myself too tightly and leave no room for rest. REST is incredibly important during this time of high-stress!
i also have a tendency to be paranoid / worry excessively / get somewhat depressed. Recognize this, find friends (in this case my fiance) who will always life your mood up when the 'bad thoughts' kick in, and indulge in all sorts of things you like (good things! like a silly movie, LOADS of comedies and feel-good shows).
- when u hit a slump midway (even in the most driven person), for me, i like to read inspiring books and watch talks that people speak passionately about their work and their lives. during this time, i got addicted to the works of Richard Feynman, Jane Goodall, and watch WAY too many videos on Ted.com.
it is important to keep inspired, and always remember why you're doing this, and think of the satisfaction when you reach your goal, even if it's 10 yrs away!
