How I did it: This is the best thing I have done for myself:  learned how to live without regret. Here it is September, two
months after I first set this goal and it has been achieved! I no longer live in the
past. Instead, my sights are focused on who I am today and who I will
be tomorrow. I embrace every good thing in life and strive to make
better what I don't like about my life, rather than just sulk about it.
Life is beautiful. Every moment truly is a gift! We must make the most
of it <-- and not be pressured by such a statement! But see it as an
opportunity for great happiness right here and now!

*How did I do it? I set my sights on God and surrendered my will to Him. This is too big a task to accomplish solo, and I was strong enough to recognize that. I accepted that all my prior attempts had failed because they were of myself. I needed to focus my life on God and allow Him to teach me how to recognize all the gifts, talents, and abilities He has already equipped me with and teach me how to battle my fears as I used them. 

Lessons & tips: It is best if you give yourself time. Decide within yourself that you are DETERMINED to change your view on life. If you are determined, then you will do it.

It also helps if you are removed from situations or people who make you feel less self-confident or who make you feel bad about your past behaviors/mistakes. I was fortunate to be out of school and away from home. I truly had two full months of seclusion from people that I was normally around. If this isn't possible, then just devote yourself to tuning out their negativeness. Instead, when you are with them, focus on the beauty and positive aspects of that person or situation. This will keep your mind away from negative things. Remember... it's all about reprogramming your mind. Research says that you need at least to perform a new behavior at least 30 days consistently in order to make it a lifestyle change. It's the same with reprogramming your mind and your outlook on life.

Then, read "Your Best Life Now: 
7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential." That book really helped me
to reprogram my mind and realize that I am wonderfully made! I am fully
equipped for success and just need to trust that I am fully able to
attain my own happiness.

And of course, read the Bible! Look in the concordance for verses that will encourage you. Read about David, who was always messing up, but still found his joy in the Lord. Seek to develop wisdom by reading Proverbs. Read about how God views you and start to view yourself the same way! (Psalms - read Psalms 139)!
