How to ace my classes
How I did it: How did I do it... well i told my mother and my DCF worker that i needed out. i told them that it drove me crazy, literally, to be in such a environment that i had to leave. luckily my exes mother who i love like my own had offered me a place to stay multiple times so that i could finish my highschool education. by this time i had left school for a year alread after being told that there would not be anyway for me toi graduate with my class. i took her up on her offer and i've been living a city away from where i grew up since. i see my family on the weekends and i go to school EVERY SINGLE DAY!.... big improvement...^_^
Even after years of straight C's and D's and an entire year out of school getting back in the grove of things was atrociously easy... that really pissed me off. i could not and still cannot believe that i couldn't do this before, and at the same time i remind myself that i cant change the past and that evironment and chronic stress played a big part of my inability to stay focused, get the job done and actually care for it.
Lessons & tips: i kinda feel like i shouldn't be writing this, i feel as thought i might offend people for thinking that this was a breeze and that it is illogical to post this as it would give ppl the equally illogical idea that it will be just as easy for them. it wont. no two people are the same. i just happen to retain information, usually useless information like a damp sponge. a damp one not a wet one. truth is though i have much academic smarts, im not people smart. i dont socialize well, i have major trust issues and i am horrible in confrontation. you probably have that on me. most do. but as i've told my younger sister who hung up on me promptly after blowing up at me because i got good grades and she had horrible ones. it does not matter one damn bit how smart you are, or how high your IQ is. what matteres is the determination that you put forth into making what you want what are and what you have. it doesnt matter that you might not graduate with the people you grew up with, the friends that saw you through the years. what matters is that you will graduate and you will make new friends. they may not be the ones you wanted to stand with when you walk across that stage but that doesnt make them any less influencial. so if you just happen to be in my shoes and you have tons of friends that you watch daily as they get ready for their senior year going on their senior trips and functions and theirsenior prom. Remember. the only thing that can change how horrible you feel about it not being yours is by rejoicing in the fact that they made it and that so will you given time. I dare you to believe that by that time it wont even matter. its all about how you see it. like they say, life is a self fullfilling prophecy. It's all up to you were you go. no one else. if you all you do is tell yourself that you're never gonna make it or your'e never gonna do xyz. then guess what? you wont.
Plain and simple.
Academicly
you know those things people say about surrounding yourself with great friends?
Extra credit is like cheesecake, HEAVENLY!
Teachers are actually students in disuise, with a degree and more authority. still doesnt change that they're students in diguise. or that they're kinda really cool if you really look at it.
dont procrastinate. thats something that got yoi in this postition hon.
** Get weekly or bi-weekly updates on you grade for each class. it truly does help with stying focus, in fact you might find that you'll compete with yourself for a better grade than the week before.
that also helps with this :
balance things out. if you get a ton of homework do the ones from the classes you knoooow that you need to catch up on. soo you may not have time to finish that one worksheet for that one class that you have a 85 in who cares. if that class is that easy that your getting that 85 in the end it wont matter because you obviously know your stuff so your'e grade willl go up once you average it out.!!
If you need help just a little or your in DESPARATE need, don't be resistant on getting tutoring. its free and it can really make a difference.
