How to achieve better balance between my personal and professional lives
"While I still am a dedicated employee, I have learned that I will be a more effective worker if I take better care of myself first."
How I did it: I finally learned that my job could not be my life. Over the years I realized that I wasn't a person.... I was my job. My job trumped everything else in my life including myself.... my health... my spirtual well-being.... my family. I recently experienced a couple of disappointments at my job, but they turned out to be huge positives in my life. They finally made my realize that I am a person that needs to take care of myself and I am not my job.
Lessons & tips: Sometimes a job needs to be the priority but if the job ALWAYS is a priority, things needs to change. If your basic needs such as sleep, nutrition, and exercise can never be cheived because your job takes so much time, then you need to make changes.
