How to jump off a waterfall
How I did it: I did this during a canyoning trip in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. After sliding down some rivers, I was the first person in our group to fall down a huge waterfall around the middle of the course. The scariest part was not being able to see all the way down the ledge, so I had no idea just how far I was going to fall, and it ended up being quite the drop! It was an amazing feeling coming up out of the water after the jump. Felt like I was reborn (and out of air).
Lessons & tips: If you're going on a course, be sure to follow your instructor's directions carefully to prevent injury or death. In my case, it turned out that the waterfall my group came down had some pretty huge rocks in it, and that part of the course has an average 20% injury rate! I'd say I was rather fortunate.
