How I did it: For a while, I was still stuck in 2009. I had created this illusion in my mind that my life was 100x better than my current life. I had a grip on my life and I had lots of friends and a boyfriend. I lived in that year for a while and wished every waking second to go back. I was so obsessed with the past that I would've given my life to go back for just a few minutes.

We glorify a time in our life, and somehow we get to edit things so that things were just better. It can get a little dangerous, because we forget to make our present a wonderful place to be as well.
I sometimes miss things in my life that are gone, friends I don’t see anymore, places I used to live, things I used to do. They were pretty good, but then I think of some of the things I’m doing now, some of the people I know, and where I’m living now, and those are pretty great. I know when my life has changed a lot, I will look back on this time with a smile too. Hopefully I will have a good present then also.
I guess things just keep changing, and if we try, there’s usually something great about the present. If there isn’t, it’s likely more productive to make the present better than to think of a brighter past.
Good for you, for looking to your present.
