How I did it: I signed up for a class at community college but it turns out they just focused on using dreamweaver. So I looked online to tutorials and found more helpful tutorials than my class so that I can actually know how to code and not rely on a program to do it for me. Now I am working on my portfolio site myself without hiring my sister (she's a genius) or anyone else! :)
Lessons & tips: I have a short attention span so I try to make learning fun and more visual for myself instead of just lectures or reading boring tutorials. The worst thing you can do is to just learn Dreamweaver because if you get hired as a web designer at a place that does not have that program and you don't know the codes, then you're out of luck. Practice with notepad first.
Resources: w3schools.com (my class actually used this site as syllabus so instead of wasting tuition and gas money just go to this site yourself for free!)
