How I did it: I went through my old email accounts (one of which is 11 years old!) and did a lot of unsubscribing, changing details, informing my contacts and deleting. I migrated some emails with MailFetcher and forwarded others on, and finally set up an auto-forward for future mail I may still be getting on old accounts even after four months of switching.
