How to lift weights
How I did it: I signed up to YMCA and the personal trainer there taught me how to use the weight lifting machines. I used to go to another gym several years ago, for 3 years and I NEVER cared to lift weights or had any personnel teach me how to do it.
Once he hooked me up with the machines I realized how easy it is! I started slow, 10lbs here, 30 there, up to 55lbs but one day I took my older sister to the YMCA and she lifted 150lbs in one machine.
I wasn't lifting enough to challenge me and what doesn't challenge you doesn't help you grow. Soon I increased the weights in everything, and now the heaviest weight I lift is 115lbs on leg press. But when I am working out my arms, I won't lift more than 30lbs.
I add another 5lbs-10lbs here and there once it becomes too easy.
Lessons & tips: In my first month lifting weights, I lifted a total of 190k pounds. Not bad, not bad :)
