How to go on an adventure
How I did it: As part of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold award i had to attend a residential. Luckily this was offered by my school as a trip to the Lake District.
Since i am from a cultural background, it was difficult to persuade my parents to let me go and at times, i wanted to give up because it was tiring to persuade them. Eventually they gave in rather reluctantly which sort of upset me and made me not want to go. They made me feel like i had been too persistant and that i was in the wrong.
All these feelings completely disappeared when i arrived at the place. It was beautiful and only got more beautiful.
Though it was a relief to go in the end because i was tired and homesick, the time i spent there was rewarding.
Lessons & tips: - At least have one person you enjoy company with when you go. Being alone is ok, but the trip is far more fulfilling with someone you like.
-Take clothes that are useful to the environment there. Cant stress enough how important it is to take suitable clothing!
-If you are able to, take lots of sweets and snacks!
-Rememeber a towel
