How I did it: My mom moved to St. John in the Virgin Islands last year & wanted me to come visit her. Simultaneously she wanted to get off the island so we agreed to meet for a weekend in Puerto Rico before heading to the V.I. We spend three days there. The first day was a relaxing day at the hotel and in the surrounding neighborhood in San Juan. The second day we went zip lining with the Acampa Nature Adventures company. The third day was spent wandering around Old San Juan & at the mall in San Juan.

Lessons & tips: It's helpful if someone in your group knows at least basic Spanish, but it's not necessary. Most people speak English, and although we did end up getting a few people that didn't, it wasn't that hard to communicate with gestures, though we probably looked silly pointing. Also, if you have a big group that wants to go zip lining, have reservations made in advance, a lot of companies can't fit in a bigger group last minute.

Resources: Acampa Nature Adventures was an awesome company to go zip lining with, we did the half day tour and had a blast. They take you on a hike up waterfalls and mountains and the guides were very knowledgeable.
