How I did it: I've always secretly hoarded food. I decided it's time to stop. To do so, I chose a little of the food in my food stash at a time and gave it to my psychologist. I threw an approximately equal amount away. After managing to do this a few times, I managed to throw more away than I gave to him and just gave him the stuff that I would miss the most. It felt very important to give those things to him rather than throwing them away, though. It was as if my stash was somewhere else, not in the trash. I know, intellectually, though, that he must've thrown it all away, so it's all an emotional thing. Eventually, I got tired of the little bags of food here and there and decided to just do it -- so, I packed everything that was left, threw the oldest stuff in the trash, and brought the rest into my psychologist one last time. Now my stash is ***completely gone.*** At first, once it was gone, I felt insecure, but that feeling is starting to be replace by a feeling of pride that I don't need the stash to survive after all (something like that).
