How I did it: The first thing I did was to determine the place and how much space I would actually have for planting.  Then I checked to see exactly what was growing when in my area.

I picked out a few things at first, rosemary, tomatoes, eggplant, strawberries and sunflowers for fun.  I read up on each specifically and learned about companion planting.  How to attract beneficial insects and how to keep my garden organic.

I planted some of my seeds in containers, partitioned off my garden, dug up grass and weeds and invested in some very rich soil (I live in the desert- no good soil here without great effort).


I tilled the ground and planted some transplants and then my seeds when they were ready- according to season.

I made it a habit to check my garden every day for a little while to determine how frequently it needed to be watered and weeded and then before I knew it....  I had produce!!

Lessons & tips: Soil is very important- probably the most important.  Dont over crowd, things won't grow.

The internet is a great tool and so were some of my local nurserys!
