How to eat nutritiously, deliciously, move pleasurely, joyfully, and weigh accordingly
"It took years to incorporate all these practices, but they are all a part of my life now. The new normal. This is "Just Right"."
How I did it: Well - I took each of these items separately and collectively toward a serious approach at how I might incorporate these practices into my life every day.
I love food! Great fresh nutritious food. I make a smoothie everyday with berries and banana and veggies, (spinach!) kefir and almond or coconut milk with protein powder which keeps my energy high each morning. I love my smoothies every morning. No other breakfast makes me as happy.
Then, I juice - once or twice a day. Healthy green juices or cantaloupe and carrot with lots of greens. My energy is up. My skin looks revived and happy.
Then, fresh ingredients in everything. Think slow food movement and wonderful recipes that don't add sugars or salts. Just fresh, wonderful ingredients with lots of spices that make interesting combinations of foods. Little to no dairy, gluten, sugars, wheat, alcohol, coffee, acidic foods, all the things that can make you sick and weak. What are they replaced by? Fresh, fresh fresh foods. Good high quality proteins. Think quality over quantity. A whole lot less quantity and a whole big shift to high quality, antibiotic free, locally sourced proteins.
Then movement...moving is crucial.
Lessons & tips: I found yoga to be the one form of movement that I just love. After 15 years, I am certain it is a lifelong practice. I can't imagine not practicing yoga. It gives me great joy, strength and flexibility. But, I move in other ways too. Tennis. Golf. new additions this year. Still like to dance every now and again. Biking. Walking.
Weight-wise, I have finally touched my goal weight. I am one pound from remaining there....it has taken me awhile - seven years to get back after a high-stress, long hours job put 18 pounds on me. Yikes! Back to the balance point - in Life, Love, work and play.
