"Found Pepperplate and that made it easy and fun"
How I did it: I found the Pepperplate app and website and that really helped.
I started by listing the regular meals that my family liked, added recipes for each. On Pepperplate they import easily from the popular cooking websites, and you can also add your own recipes.
I spent some time adding my personal recipes to my account, family recipes, etc, so all are in one place.
Once a week I go in and plan - I've added "eat out" and "leftovers" as recipes too, so I can see them in my weekly plan.
I tag new recipes with a "new to try" tag, and also use "family favorites" as a tag so I know my weeks look like a good variety of old and new, I also use "asian" and "mexican" and "classic French".
Pepperplate also can make a shopping list from your recipes which is helpful, and what I really love is that I can see the same data from my computer (website) or on my phone or ipad (apps) - so I often plan on my ipad at night, and can check the menu when out shopping on my phone.
There is also a "menu" feature where I've gathered a menu for a typical brunch so when we have people over what I usually make is all in one place, and I've also done that for Thanksgiving and for my holiday baking.
