How to become Financially Responsible and Independent
"Yay, independence."
How I did it: I quit blowing my money on non-essentials as much as I could (still have to indulge every-once-in-a-while). I made a point to put SOMETHING in my savings account out of every paycheck no matter how small it had to be. When I got a small raise, I didn't start spending more than I had been.
I had been paying $60/month for my cell phone and I'm not a phone person so I barely used it, ridiculous. I finally found a plan that is cheap for me (Consumer Cellular is great if you don't talk much and they have good texting plans which is what I use most). So I've cut that bill in half.
The most important thing to this goal is controlling spending.
