How to quit Smoking
How I did it: Cold Turkey. It takes more than one try, but it does get easier. I quit 10 years ago and would never go back. The pulmonary embolism helped, but it still took 2 years after to finally kick the habit. Cigarettes are gross and smoke all over your clothes and hair stinks. It was easier for me as I no longer had roommates who smoked, so I didn't have to watch other people enjoying what I wanted. There are plenty of people out there willing to help and this is something that really will change your life.
Lessons & tips: Busy yourself with something else like chewing gum or lollies. Having something in your hand is good, but occupying your mind is even better. Now that public places are smoke-free hang out more where you can't smoke. Don't beat yourself up if you don't succeed right away. Find a friend to quit with. If you are on the birth control pill you have even more reason to quit - the two together can kill you even faster!
Resources: I have heard great things about the patch and the gum and the inhaler, so find the right fit for you.
