"We can all do something to improve the situation."
How I did it: Even if you think there's nothing you can do, there's always something to be done. Think about what you do in your everyday life, all the rubbish you produce, for example. How about using more things you can eventually recycle? paper bags instead of plastic bags, buy drinks glass bottles instead of plastic bottles, put organic trash in a different bag, take things to recycling centers, or maybe even recycle paper! Think before you act; is it really necessary to print all that stuff you'll use for a little while and then throw away?
Moreover, have you ever stopped to think how much you pollute the evironment by driving? Why not try and use public transport? I know it can be annoying at times, but it's the way to go if we want to reduce pollution in our cities. If we're talking about small distances, why don't you walk? it's healthier, both for you and for the planet :)
Also, when you're at home, don't keep the lights on in the rooms where you're not. It's unnecessary and you're wasting away electricy that could be used for other purposes :)
So don't say there's nothing you can do. Don't blame it all on big countries and corporations and say you'll wait for them to change their policies, because YOU can start making a change first! There's aways a way to help out :)
