How I did it: We found a very reputable place to get it done that had excellent reviews (thanks Yelp!), and went in. We talked to the piercer and she put us right at ease with her obvious knowledge and suggestions to do what turned out to be best.

Lessons & tips: Ask about the place before you go--go to a high quality place that knows what they're doing and cares about quality work. It's quite permanent work, so choose wisely.
