How I did it: I always wanted to live at Cape Hatteras.  I could never afford it.  My sophomore year in college, I decided I would live in a tent there for the summer.  My boyfriend at the time was in.  So we picked a spot and battled some NASTY sand storms, some crazy winds, and some really hot mornings when you wake up in your tent and wish there was a tub of ice cubes you could jump into.  I also got to witness a lot of bird sex.  They are NOT quiet!

Lessons & tips: You will have sand in your teeth, in your clothes, everywhere. Become one with the sand
