Congratulations on
overcoming madridphobia. :)
How I did it: I have studied Physics, but I always liked science in general, and I knew that, to feel fulfilled, I had to be part of an interdisciplinary team.
A few months before finishing my degree in physics, I started to check several laboratories that worked in something related to bioinformatics.
After having checked several options, I realised that the most interesting was a laboratory about proteomics in Madrid. Even if I preferred to live in a new place (I have been many years in Madrid), I had to be flexible and overcome my "madridphobia". I decided to move there.
It was easy to me to show interest about what they were doing in the laboratory, as for me everything was very interesting. I kept in touch, and even prepared a small seminar about protein identification for the group while I was extremely busy preparing my last exam of Physics (on Quantum Field Theory).
