How to go on a solo tour
How I did it: I planned a route, made a budget, e-mailed my friends along the route, scoured the Internet for contacts, booked a bunch of shows, confirmed them, re-confirmed them, got an oil change, hopped in the car, drove 2500 miles and played around 10 shows. Tada! Tour.
Lessons & tips: -Confirm your shows. Then reconfirm them. Then re-reconfirm them. Then re-re-reconfirm them. Seriously. Every week or two.
-Stay with people. You will learn more about other people and you will pay less money for lodging. Do their dishes. And make arrangements far ahead of time. Confirm lodging like your confirm shows.
-Don't be shy. I'm a shy person. You might be too. Get over it. When you need something, ask for it.
Resources: -A car.
-Friendships.
-Social networking sites (esp. myspace, unfortunately)
-Cellphone
