How I did it: I did it in Yosemite at Badger Pass without taking any lessons. My girlfriend and I went to the park and this was sort of a side opportunity that I couldn't pass up. It wasn't all that expensive, something like $150 for both of us for a whole day including rental gear. The slope I we went on almost looked like flat ground, but for a beginner it might as well be K2. The hardest parts of snowboarding are: getting off the lift without embarrassing yourself or eating sh!t AND stopping.....and turning. It was a blast and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
