How I did it: I took salsa classes, very popular in the UK now! My classes were 1.50 hours a week, in 8 week courses. People just turn up and pay for that particular class, which is very convenient, but you also have the downside that is people not improving together as part of a group. So, effectively, you can be on your last week of the course, dancing with a person who just arrived - not ideal!
The teachers were brilliant and very helpful, if you were willing to ask them directly and just say - I didn't get it at all, can you do it again?

Lessons & tips: If you really want to improve, you need to go more than once a week and preferably to private classes or small group classes. I only went once a week - enough for my own goal of not embarassing myself in public anymore - and as part of a large group.
