How to visit the New England Pirate Museum in Salem, MA
"My favorite part of Salem"
How I did it: The Pirate museum is a very different museum in Salem. In a town known for it's witches, we often forget that it is a port and had it's fair share of nautical history. The Pirate Museum reminds us about that history in a fun way. The museum isn't like a typical historical museum, but more like the witch museums you will also find around town. They recreate scenes, complete with audio, and show some artifacts. The tour is a combination of silly and history. Don't take this to mean I didn't enjoy myself. I actually found it to be the most enjoyable of these tours. I felt like I walked away having learned something new about Pirates.
Lessons & tips:
- Consider buying a combination ticket to see this museum, The Witched Dungeon, and the Witch History Museum.
- The tour lasts about 20-30 minutes
- You will wait in the gift shop for the tour to start. It will also end there. There are some fun things to purchase. The prices are not outrageous.
- You can make this an educational trip, the webpage provides the content
- You can take pictures.
