How to learn reflexology
How I did it: I found out about a woman teaching foot Reflexology in my area after a while of researching what it was all about.
I instantly connected with Reflexology and was eager to begin training.
It was pricey, but absolutely worth the amount of money I had to pay out.
On top of the Reflexology, I learned so much about the anatomy - completely handy!
With all the classes, homework, tests & practicums (70 to be exact) I was finished roughly around four months.
It was a lot of hard work - but totally WORTH IT!
Reflexology is relaxing, non-invasive, relieving and helps to indicate problem areas without having to do extensive testing. *We cannot diagnose or prescribe, though! This just helps us to show the client if they have a tender reflex*.
Lessons & tips: I have found that through all the treatments I have done and the recording of each one... amazing results come from these treatments! Reflexology is absolutely valid and beneficial. You'll notice healing happening!
Learn about the anatomy! It's one thing to understand what all the reflexes are... but you will understand so much better if you know what everything functions as!
Make sure you communicate with your client so that you can provide the correct amount of pressure for their threshold. Everyone is different and you don't want the treatment to be an unpleasant experience. It's meant to heal - not hurt.
Keep up exercising your hands so that they do not hurt or start having problems. In most cases, your Reflexology class will provide information on how to keep up hand and wrist health.
Notice any area on your foot that is tender... then link it to that specific part of your body... you'll start to notice that your foot informs you of problem areas in your body.
Hold hands with other Reflexologists - meaning, don't allow jealousy or rivalry get in the way... we are all hear to help others to heal... these treatments are not meant to be involved with any negative thoughts or actions.
Do research to find the best teacher for you. Make sure you know what credentials they have and if the course will certify you.
ENJOY! It's an amazing technique that you forever learn more and more about.
