How to pretend that all those bad things in my life didn't happen
"Well, what they say is true folks. You have to face the bad things that have happened in your past. If you don't, the anger builds up and you wish you had just listened to your parents."
How I did it: I started journaling to keep up with the emotions that were running away from me. Now I not only was able to confront those bad things that had happened to me, but meet them head on with a confidence I hadn't felt in a long time. Journaling also let me express myself in a much more creative way than just spouting off my problems to a psychiatrist. I was able to open up and solve my own problems by looking at them spread out vulnerably on a page.
Lessons & tips:
- Be true to yourself.
- Don't hide.
- Have someone supportive around that will understand your emotions.
- Try and make something good out of the bad.
Resources: A moleskin journal, Sharpies, scissors, glue, and my past.
