Hey
I’ve always wanted to do that. i wish i could be as outgoing!
How I did it: Traveled to Barrow, Alaska during mid-September. Caught exactly one clear night (my last night there), and viola! I've heard that just outside of Fairbanks is the best geographical area to see the aurora in Alaska, but as it turns out the display in Barrow was more dramatic than what my family, who stayed just north of the Arctic Circle, saw the same night.
Lessons & tips: September is apparently Alaska's rainy season, so I would recommend going later in winter. Cold, clear, dark nights represent the best viewing opportunities.

I would love to go to Alaska.
Not just to see the Northern lights but to see all of the nature there also.

One must witness the magnificent auroral display to have an altogether different perspective of natural beauty. It is the ultimate show put up by nature anywhere on earth.
vpnzrrmylife205 is counting down the 48 hours of weekend I have left
I remember getting a call from some local photographer in Fairfax at around 1:30 am. I ran out with my video camera and camera but was foolish to think I could capture it. It’s still vividly in my head. I’m glad I got to experience it
I moved to Anchorage, Alaska when I was five and lived there until I was 14. Best childhood anyone could ask for. I saw the Northern Lights many, many times along with other crazy Alaskan things
I would recommend to ANYONE to visit Alaska at least once in their life. Amazing, amazing place, you won’t regret it
P.S. if you’re from a hot climate, don’t visit in the winter… your body might go into shock : ) It’s colder than you think…
