How I did it: I got a good digital camera, which is totally worth it.  Back when I used actual film, I was always nervous about wasting the film, so I hardly ever took a picture and I wasn't very good and they usually turned out badly anyway.  Now I let loose and snap away.  I delete whatever I don't like without wasting a cent at a photomat.  This freedom makes photography much more enjoyable for me, and I have learned a lot along the way.
