How I did it: Part of the 30 Things to do before I'm 30 list I made in the summer of 2004.

I had been wanting to do this for a while. My roommate noticed that I could braid my own hair and asked if i could do hers. I agreed and asked if I could practice cornrows which she enthusiastically agreed to. After having watched a ton of people braid mine and other's hair i knew the basics but putting it into practice was a different story. It took me a few attempts on different days (the first time took me 3 hours!), but finally i did it to where I was satisfied. She told me later that some people at school asked where she got it done because they wanted to go get it done too!

Lessons & tips: BE PATIENT

keep a spray bottle near by

use a rat tail comb, they work better than regular combs

put in a movie that you've seen a million times so you have something in the background but don't necessarily have to watch. it helps with the patience factor
