"I realized it's not that big of a deal"
How I did it: I read an ebook that was something like "Writing a resume in one day." It pointed out the fact that a stellar resume isn't what is going to get you the job. Getting in front of people is what will get you the job.
Lessons & tips: In order to get in front of people, I have been filling out online applications. Then I call the hospital that I applied to and ask for the person in charge of hiring. I then ask them if I can just drop off a resume.
If they say "Well I already have an application" I just come clean with them and say something like "Look, we both know why I want to drop off a resume. I want you to meet me so you have a face to go with that application... because I want the job. And that would make your job easier too, wouldn't it?" Or something along those lines. I come clean and show them how it benefits them too.
Most of them appreciate the honesty.
Resources: ... Uh this one thingy... I think it's called the internet? And something else... the telephone I think.
