How to read 100 books in 2008
How I did it: Over the past 18 months, my mum has been receiving treatment for cancer and I, meanwhile, have continued my ongoing 'adventure' with Atypical Bipolar Disorder. These two circumstances have led to me realising that reading is the best weapon I have against anxiety, depression, stress and various other nasties. Because of this, I think it's been easier to deal with all that's happened. When my emotional state's been going awry, I've snuggled up with Sammy-cat and a book and just read until I feel better. This has really reignited my love of reading and I'm looking forward to doing another challenge in 2009 although hopefully withut the extreme highs and lows I've experienced this year. Stopping smoking has also helped as I've tended to read instead of lighting up for those 'ten minutes away' that we all need throughout the day.
Lessons & tips: Take a book with you wherever you go and make a point of reading instead of staring at the wall!
Resources: http://www.bookcrossing.com can be a source of books although it's better for releasing the books that you've read.http://www.bookmooch.com allows you to swap books for points which you then spend on new books.
