How to start a cooking club
How I did it: It started with an evening out with a couple that we rarely saw but loved to hang out with. During dinner, we realized how much we all loved food and thought of starting a "Supper Club". Our friends invited a couple and we invited another couple to be part of the group and our Supper Club was underway. We've been having dinner club on a monthly basis for the last 3 years. Sometimes it gets pushed to every other month but it's been so much fun. We've become great friends with everyone. We also made sure that the couples invited had children of similar ages so they could have their own play time/ supper club.
Lessons & tips:
- Find friends who like to or really want to cook. These should be friends that you want to hang out with or would like to see more often.
- We had two options for someone hosting Supper Club: the host could cook the entire meal or they could farm out recipes to each family and make it more of a potluck. so far, everyone has chosen to make the entire dinner themselves.
- We started hiring a high school babysitter to keep an eye on the kids while the adults enjoyed dinner.
