How I did it: It is a continuous way of life, you cannot just go on a diet - you have to decide to eat, drink, and exercise in a manner that promotes muscle retention and eliminates excess storage.

Sustained heart rate increasing exercise is absolutely essential - you will be sore at first but for the most part it will pass in a few weeks as you build muscle.
Plain water helps metobolize fat and flushes metabolic waste from your system - drink lots of it - do not get sucked into the flavored water - it is usually full of calories.
Eat lean - high protien, sufficient carbs, low low fat - avoid fast food at all costs.
