How I did it: For my birthday gift, my boyfriend got us a couple's cooking class. The school has online registration and lets you preview the menu before you sign up. They provide everything and let you take the recipes home. It was so much fun. We're already looking into taking another.

Lessons & tips: It's really not as intimidating as many people think. There are people of all skill levels there. The most important thing to remember is that everyone is there to have a good time.
