How to convince my dad that I love him by unchained03

"I was a shitty teenager; he treated me like I was still seven."

How I did it: We definitely had issues -- I ran out of patience trying to convince him I was growing up, he ran out of patience trying to deal with me running out of patience.  We both tried to be nice to the other, but it wasn't really working until about two years ago.  I was having issues with my then-boyfriend wanting to share everything about his feelings and wanting me to reciprocate.  I'm horrible at this, and was mentioning it to my dad.  He said he's the same way.

After that, we got closer -- he visited me in Chicago without my mom and we have normal, fun times together.  He no longer thinks I dislike him, and he no longer treats me like I'm seven.
