How to read Lolita
How I did it: I checked it out from the library and shut myself in my room whenever I could for a few days.
I read this book when I was 16. (21 now) I had already been meaning to do it for years because I had heard it whispered about here and there as a kid and I was curious. The tipping point was when I got into Japanese culture and discovered the fashion known as Lolita. I decided that I had to see just how much the book had to do with the style. Although I had already read that "not much at all" was the answer, I wanted to find out on my own.
Lessons & tips: It's pretty wordy. It's best to read it when you're wide awake, else you may find yourself going cross-eyed and having no recollection of the last eight pages. Don't give up, though! You'll be proud when you can say you've read it.
