Wat subjects did yuu do??
How to get all As and A*s in my GCSEs
"I somehow got 7A*'s and 3A's, which finally ended up as 9A*'s and 1A after two of my papers were found to be incorrectly marked :) "
How I did it: Didn't really pay tons of attention at school, and got very distracted from revision so didn't do too much of that either, but generally I grasped the subject matter of my classes.
Anything that wasn't clear in lessons, I studied before the exams to make sure I understood.
Last minute revision sessions, ie. a few hours spent revising key info with friends before an exam, were so helpful.
Lessons & tips:
- Buy revision guides for every subject (make sure each is the right syllabus) or use online revision resources, as long as they're complete.
- Put everything you might need (pens, paper, coloured makers, etc) in a big box and make sure it's there when you're revising.
- Go through topics systematically and revise whichever way suits you best.
- Break down and summarise the information when you're revising - BE CONCISE :)
- Take frequent breaks!
- Test yourself, or get someone else to test you.
- Revise with friends, its more fun. Just make sure you don't go off topic.
- Use past papers to get a feel for the exam and time yourself.
- Make sure you pack everything you need for the next exam the night before. It saves a lot of hassle and stress, believe me.
It may be necessary to smash up or otherwise make unavailable any potential distractions. The Wii HAS TO GO! And keep msn/facebook/whatever to a limit :)
Resources: www.s-cool.co.uk - covers lots of subjects in detail at GCSE
www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize - useful particularly for science, although quite basic for subjects like English
CPG Revision Guides - defiintely worth buying! :)
