How to learn how to irish step dance
How I did it: I had to swallow my embarrassment at flailing around like an electrocuted spider. I just loved the music and the steps so much that I kept at it, and little by little I started to improve my form and muscle memory. I did my first competition about six months later and my first team championship after about a year. That was about thirteen years ago. My ceili team and I went on to win the North American Irish Dance Championship a few years ago. What a thrill!
Lessons & tips: Find dance friends to practice with between classes. Vary the music you practice to; music you love can almost make you fly. Plan to be in competitions or performances, since those give you goals to practice for.
