How I did it: It wasn't easy in the beginning to make the decision to leave my husband. We had met when I was just 18 years old and he was really someone I thought I was "supposed" to be with according to the standards of my family and my church. But when I realized he was a pathetic asshole, I decided to take my life back into my own hands and leave it all behind. It took a good two years for me to work up the courage to do it, but I am so glad I left him for good.
Resources: I did everything on my own - no lawyer or anything. I used the free court online services as a guide on what paperwork to file and when.
